Krav Maga Based System

Krav Maga is a method of self-defense developed in Israel. Because of the everyday dangers faced by Israeli citizens over the years, Krav Maga was founded by Imi Lichtenfield to give Israeli soldiers and the average Israeli citizen the tools necessary to walk in peace and confidence.

Unlike traditional Asian martial arts, Krav Maga does not rely on preset modalities and patterns (kata). Rather,it uses technique and intuition possessed by the practitioner to develop a practical and effective self-defense system in a shorter period of time.

Krav Maga is composed of three pillars: awareness, self-defense, and fighting skills. Krav Maga is a practical, realistic system that teaches how to detect, deter, delay, and defeat all types of violent confrontations. Krav Maga is a unique and common sense system of self-defense. There are no traditional or sporting elements attached to Krav Maga. Its training methods are based on the adaptation of instinctive response through principal based learning. This results in a skill set that becomes practical in a short period of time and useful under stressful conditions.

The cornerstone of Krav Maga training is its structured teaching process and training methodology. Its curriculum is divided into grades, also known as levels in other Krav Maga systems. Krav Maga training includes:

    1.     How to prevent, avoid, escape and evade events associated with conflict
    2.     Learning how to fall and roll to avoid and reduce injury through impact with the ground
    3.     Attacking and counter-attacking techniques using the hands, legs, feet, arms and head
    4.     How to use everyday objects as weapons for self-defense and fighting
    5.     Techniques to defend yourself such as kicks, strikes, throws, blocks, and evasive body movements
    6.     Techniques to defend yourself against armed threats and attacks involving knives, blunt objects, and firearms
    7.     How to defend yourself when on the ground and when confronted with multiple attackers

Krav Maga techniques and principles are taught with practicality and reality in mind. The tactics and techniques enable someone to cope with all types of situations and violent encounters in various environments. Environments in which Krav Maga techniques can be effectively used include open or confined spaces, around or in a car or on public transportation, in low-light conditions and on uneven ground. Krav Maga training also focuses on the need to deal with conflict when in positions of disadvantage such as sitting down, laying down, or with a loved one.

Krav Maga enables personal growth from physical, mental and spiritual perspectives. Krav Maga practitioners witness vast improvements in their mental capacities to make decisions in stressful, quickly evolving situations.

Krav Maga is adaptable to meet the needs of both men and women, from children to mature adults. The Ministry of Defense also has specific curriculums including tactical adaptations to meet the ever-growing needs of law enforcement officers, security personnel, teachers, and business and real estate professionals. Also available are highly specialized training curriculums to assist those in ministry, evangelism, and missionary work.
